2011 Dementia Statistics in UK

Alzheimer’s isn’t just a disease predicted to reach epidemic proportions in the US, but all over the world. I recently discussed US Alzheimer’s statistics, but UK statistics are increasing at an alarming rate also. I’ve actually become acquainted with an English man diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the young age of 50, that was three years ago. Today Norman McNamara spends his time raising funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s in the UK. As an independent writer and editor, Norm has even written books and poetry on his personal experiences with dementia. Check out Norman’s website and take a look at the current statistics on dementia in the UK provided by the Alzheimer’s Society, NHS, Office for National Statistics and OHE. Rest assured, we are all in this together.

Interesting how the UK uses the work “dementia” rather than “Alzheimer’s” which is a more accurate way to put it.
