Mainstream Fiction Winner Brought to Our Senses
The accolades continue for Brought to Our Senses with recognition in the 25th Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards. I’m thrilled to announce my family saga novel has been honored in the Mainstream Fiction category!
Literary Awards By the Numbers
This is the third literary award for Brought to Our Senses! (But who’s counting, right?) I’m always fascinated by the numbers, so here’s the scoop. Over 2,400 books were judged in this year’s Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards, and that’s a lot of books! Only 44 titles were selected from this huge pool, which means less than 2% of the books stayed afloat. With fierce competition and those slim odds, I would like to thank Writer’s Digest and the judges for finding my novel worthy of praise. Yes, it feels great … like happy dance fantastic!
Bonus Book Awards Feedback
This literary award offers something extra to writers that is just as important as an award designation, and that is feedback. The judges provide comments on the books they review along with their rankings from 1 “needs improvement” to 5 “outstanding” for six key judging elements:
- Structure, organization, and pacing
- Spelling, punctuation, and grammar
- Production quality and cover design
- Plot and story appeal
- Character appeal and development
- Voice and writing style
The judges also spell out what they liked and disliked about the book in their commentary. This kind of feedback and constructive criticism from publishing industry professionals is something every writer seeks to help improve their craft.
I’m sharing here some of the wonderful things the judges had to say about Brought to Our Senses. While I’m keeping the negatives to myself (sorry), I am grateful for the information and feel it will make my writing better moving forward.
Congratulations to the other 43 winning authors recognized in this competition. I’m honored to be in their company for this year’s Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards. Check out all the award-winning books in eight different categories on the Writer’s Digest website and support the efforts of these outstanding authors by purchasing those you find interesting. Don’t forget to leave honest reviews for the books you read and spread the love to other readers!
